Kinetic typography
I've chosen Gorillaz's "Fire Coming Out of the Monkey’s Head" for its depiction of greed and capitalism exploiting the innocent. The song, loosely inspired by conflicts over oil, sets the stage for a narrative exploration. Through light versus dark themes and strategic use of color, I aim to convey the overarching message of greed consuming innocence. The 'lyric video' starts in a bright setting with the "Happy Folk" before transitioning to a darker tone with the introduction of the "Strangefolk," symbolising greed. Warm blue represents the innocence of the Happy Folk, while striking red portrays the violence of the Strangefolk, emphasising the theme of greed overtaking innocence.
